The National Health Plan Workgroup is focused on incorporating specialty care into value-based care contracts to enhance care delivery and driving payment reform by aligning key aspects of accountable care, such as data and infrastructure. The group is composed of six major national health plans (Aetna, Centene, Cigna, Elevance, Humana, and United) along with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Multiple workgroup members have committed to participating in the CMS Innovation Center’s CMS Innovation Center’s Making Care Primary Model, which aims to provide Medicare beneficiaries with seamless, high-quality, whole-person care while promoting a multi-payer alignment strategy that benefits all members.
