Visit the new page to filter the agenda by session type and Summit themes, which include: 1) Addressing Clinician Challenges in APMs In addition to regular panel sessions, we’ve added workshops and dialogue sessions to the agenda as new, interactive ways to learn and network with other attendees. (More on those workshops and dialogue sessions below.) And this year, we’ve introduced a new mobile app called Guidebook to the LAN Summit. Through the app, attendees can build their own agendas for the day and easily track what’s happening around them, all with a few easy phone taps. Stay tuned in the coming weeks for more information on Guidebook. |

In addition to a distinguished panel speaker lineup, this year’s Summit offers a new and unique opportunity to learn and network with other attendees, via two workshops and two dialogue sessions. One workshop will focus on identifying the necessary infrastructures for physician practices to move to value-based payment and the other workshop will address how to effectively engage patients to achieve APM success. Both workshops will address specific challenges in each of these topic areas and offer attendees actionable, practical strategies that they can operationalize within their organizations. This year, we’ve also introduced dialogue sessions to the Summit agenda. One dialogue session will focus on discussion on how best to support the clinical community’s evolution towards APMs and the other will address value-based insurance design for APMs. Both sessions will be honest and dynamic conversations in which a facilitator will guide the discussion and subject matter expert “listeners” will take in-depth, real-time questions from the audience, creating a safe and organic environment for attendees to ask pressing questions or to share their experiences. |

This year’s Summit features a heavily-anticipated plenary panel, “The Role of Behavioral Economics in Driving Alternative Payment Model Success,” led by world-renowned physician, author, professor, and medical ethicist Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel. Dr. Emanuel, current vice provost for Global Initiatives and chair of the Department of Medical Ethics and Health Policy at the University of Pennsylvania, will lead a discussion about how behavioral economic theory impacts the design and operations—and ultimately, the outcomes—of APMs. Acclaimed guest speakers Dr. Bernadette Loftus from Kaiser Permanente and Adam Brown, M.D. and senior vice president at Envision Healthcare, will join Dr. Emanuel on the panel. Dr. Mark Smith, LAN Guiding Committee co-chair and visiting professor at University of California Berkeley and Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of California San Francisco, will moderate this plenary panel, and additional speakers yet to be confirmed will also join. |

New! APM Roadmap Website Just Launched
|
Check out the LAN’s newest website announcing the development of the Roadmap for Driving High Performance in APMs. This latest initiative is aimed at providing operational guidance for implementing successful Category 3 and 4 APMs. The Roadmap will be an implementation guide that payers can use to work with providers, purchasers, consumers, and others to accelerate the creation and adoption of high-performing APMs with criteria to evaluate the success of APMs and best practices payers and providers for driving high performance in the APM. The Roadmap for Driving High Performance in APMs is being developed by the LAN’s multi-stakeholder Roadmap Work Group, comprised of experts with extensive experience in the design and implementation of APMs. Early findings on correlates of success from the available literature and discussions with various stakeholders, as well as examples of high-performing APMs, will be shared at this year’s LAN Summit on October 22. The Roadmap Working Group will be presenting this information to capture direct feedback from the field on the work completed thus far and to help develop a truly practical roadmap. The final Roadmap for Driving High Performance in APMs will be released in early 2019. Please continue to visit the LAN website to learn about the Working Group’s milestones in the coming months. |
